Today's trap: 많아요 does not sound like "manh-a-yo." The ㅎ goes quiet and the sound slides straight through. You get "mana-yo," three soft beats, no hard stop in the middle. Say "mana-yo" right now, easy.

🔍️ WORD SPOTLIGHT

정 (jeong), There is no English word for this. It is the warm pull between people who have spent time together. It grows slowly. It is why an old shop owner slips you an extra side dish and waves off the money.

참 (cham), "really, truly." Small word, big warmth. 참 많아요 = "there really is a lot." It makes the sentence sound felt, not counted.

The particle: 는, the topic marker. 엄마는 = "as for my mom." It lifts mom up as the person we are about to say something about. Learners drop it, and the sentence goes flat.
