🌶️ Dust gathers into a mountain (Day 3)

October 7, 2026

Morning! 😃 ☕️

A comforting proverb can hurt. Say 티끌 모아 태산 to the wrong person at the wrong moment and you sound like you are brushing off their pain. Today is about reading the room before this line leaves your mouth.

More blocks are gone now. The verb stems, the everyday words. You keep the two big nouns and pull the rest from memory.

In today's email…

🌶️ HEAR IT

Today's trap: 끌 in 티끌 starts with ㄲ, a tense k. It is harder and tighter than the ㄱ in 조금.

For ㄱ, the sound is soft, almost a g. For ㄲ, you squeeze the throat a little and pop it out.

Say 그 (soft), then 끄 (tight). Feel the squeeze? Now say 티끌 with that tight pop on the second block: 티-끌.

🎙 SAY IT BACK

Sunhee is awake right now.

Today: say the whole thing, out loud, once. All three lines, start to finish, one clean run. Do not aim for perfect. Aim for finishing.

🔍️ WORD SPOTLIGHT

조금 (jogeum), "a little," a small amount. This is the everyday word for "a bit." 조금씩 adds 씩, which means "each" or "at a time," so 조금씩 is "a little at a time." That is the pace this whole proverb is about.
